How are ATVs, Dirtbikes, & Quads insured?
There is no coverage extended from auto policies and if there is any on your homeowners policy it would be subject to your deductible. A separate policy will need to be obtained to properly insure these recreational vehicles from perils such as theft, vandalism, & bodily injury.
What does "Collision Coverage" mean?
In the event you are in an at fault accident, the insurance company will pay to have your car's damages repaired minus your chosen deductible. Ask us about your coverage today!
What is Uninsured/Underinsured Motors coverage?
This coverage protects you against drivers who carry no insurance or who carry an insufficient amount of coverage to pay the claim. We strongly urge everyone to carry UM/UIM coverage.
What is the state minimum auto coverage?
In Tennessee, you are required by law to carry Bodily Injury (BI) Limits of $25,000 per person up to $50,000 total with property damage of at least $25,000. It reads like this on the policy: (BI Limits) 25,000/50,000/25,000 or 25/50/25. We highly recommend to carry Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist bodily injury & property damage. Ask to find out more as well as for pricing on higher coverage limits than the state minimum.
When should I remove Comprehensive & Collision?
Comprehensive (also referred to as Comp. or Other Than Collision) & Collision should only be removed if you can afford to lose the total value of the vehicle in the event of damage or an accident.
Who do I contact to make a claim?
In the event of a claim, or even a possible claim, contact our office. We will advise you & help you every step of the way. Even outside of normal business hours, we have an emergency contact number on our voicemail.
Am I covered if I drive for Uber, Lyft, etc.?
While driving for a third party, such as the above listed & others, there is NO COVERAGE. Depending on the company, you can purchase an endorsement which will amend the policy allowing you to drive for the listed 3rd party companies. We always suggest getting a commercial auto policy to be properly covered. Ask us more about staying properly insured.
What does "Comprehensive Coverage" mean?
Also referred to as "Other than Collision Coverage". This will provide you with coverage for things such as Fire, Hail, Wind, Glass, Theft, Animal Damage & Vandalism minus your chosen deductible.
When do I add my teenage child to my auto policy?
It is always good to inform your agent when your child obtains their learners permit. Some companies require permitted drivers to be listed and others do not (same with rating for them). Make sure you find out what the guidelines before letting a permitted driver operate your vehicle.
What is a Renters Insurance Policy?
The owner of the building is responsible for insuring the dwelling itself, but does not have the responsibility for the renter's belongings. A renters insurance policy does provide coverage for your belongings as well as personal liability.
Does my Homeowners Policy cover floods?
Flooding is typically not covered under your homeowners insurance policy. In order to have flood coverage, a flood insurance policy needs to be purchased.
Do I need to purchase extra insurance for a rental?
Depending on your policy, your coverage from your primary vehicle will be extended to your rental car as long as you have comprehensive & collision. Depending on the vehicle you are renting, coverage may not extend to a commercial truck, 15 passenger van, box truck, etc. Always check with us before you rent a vehicle.
